Stay at Home Mom Opens Online Beach Wear Store Featuring a New Twist on the Pirate Genre.

(PRWEB) January 19, 2010 -- New beachwear boutique opens online with an original twist on the Pirate image. “My children and I love the pirate genre,” states Lynn Small, owner and CEO of Pleasant Pirate Inc., “but for myself and my children I didn’t want to wear a skull and crossbones. I wanted something more......pleasant!” Consumers don’t need to live near the Caribbean, or even in Disney World’s Florida, to know that the pirate craze has taken over the hearts and imagination of men and women, young and old. However, the idea of a pirate lifestyle with the freedom on the open ocean, making any and every beach a port of call, was cool even before Johnny Depp broke box office records with the Black Pearl, and the happy island lifestyle has a lot to do with that. After searching the web Mrs. Small realized the exact image she imagined simply didn’t exist, so she designed it herself. “I basically took a smiley face, added an eyepatch, and crossed two swords underneath.” After having a friend of hers silkscreen it on a tee shirt the compliments, and requests, began pouring in. “I couldn’t keep up with the requests my friends and family were making for the tee shirt, let alone strangers, so I began printing an inventory.” And now that inventory has turned into an online store, PleasantPirate.com, which sells more than tee shirts. “We’re expanding to include flags, koozies, hats, onesies, hoodies, you name it!”

Her passion, however, isn’t centered on the apparent business opportunity, but rather about her shared love for tropical beaches, private islands “...and the smile everyone gets from seeing one of these shirts. Thats a bigger reward than I could have imagined. People really seem to identify with them.”

So what’s next for the Pleasant Pirate? “He’ll continue to smile as long as he makes others smile, thats for sure! He’s starting to find his own community, especially on Facebook and Twitter, which really is fun, and there is certainly no shortage of fellow beach lovers and pirate fans!”
